"When I found out I had breast cancer I learned I also had treatment options. After considering them all, I opted for a bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomy to be followed by reconstruction surgery. Dr. Gabriel worked alongside my breast surgeon, Dr. Storm-Dickerson during the mastectomy surgery, placing expanders that would stretch the pectoral muscles and tissue to make room for the implants. I had read many discussion boards where women go through so much pain during the expansion process, so I decided to take part in Dr. Gabriel's clinical trial in which Botox is injected into the muscle before placing the expanders. It worked! Dr. Gabriel was able to have me fully expanded in a short time after my mastectomy, and I experienced no pain! I celebrated my birthday in March with breast reconstruction surgery. Dr. Gabriel measured everything and marked me up. It's quite an art. (There are different sizes and styles for breast implants.) The surgery took a little over three hours. I loved waking up in the surgery room to see Dr. Gabriel and his wonderful nurse Rachel. Thanks to the Southwest medical team, not only am I a breast cancer survivor, I still have breasts!"

To express my feelings of thankfulness would take a whole ream of paper. My health has always been a struggle, making me a pinball being bounced from doctor to doctor. After having two difficult pregnancies and a hysterectomy at the age of 26, feeling like a women was practically impossible. My self-assurance about my body was shot.
